Meet The Face behind Reeves&Co - an Interview with Carl Reeves

19 September 2016

Could you please introduce yourself and talk about your background?

Hi, I'm Carl Reeves and I've been a hairdresser /Session artist for 24 years and set up my own education. Though this time I've been lucky enough to work on some amazing shows like Prada, Chanel, McQueen, Vuitton, D&G and worked with Vogue, Harper's and Tatler. I've also been the European Creative director for Kevin Murphy.

What prompted you to get into hair?

Starting in the hair industry was an accident. I left school at 15 to become a professional golfer.. I was just washing hair at nights to pay rent.

You’ve worked with some amazing people - who has been the most exciting?

Love them all and they all have different skills and styles. Luigi and Guido have been my favs.. And Duffy is a Legend!

How did you decide to create your own range of bags?

After leaving KevinMurphy I was drawn to creating my own product Once I started looking into everything more in-depth I saw there were no bags with style or quality specific to our industry. Reeves&Co was born.

You’ve just added a new type of products to your range - the Reeves&co vegan bags. How did you come up with this idea?

I've always had the belief that we as humans need to protect the planet and I felt I needed to have a bag of the highest quality but also sticks by the morals I have against animal cruelty. So I needed to be able to provide that as well as the cruelty free leather option.

Do you have any other upcoming projects?

Yes I'm off to Belgium for an education event and I'm still shooting a lot of great things. I'm so interested in business and mentoring of talent so a lot of focus goes into this as well.

What’s your absolute favourite Reeves&Co product?

I will always love the first sample bag I have in my kit. To be able to see the product I've created and know people love it makes you feel amazing and worth the effort and money spent.
